Five (plus one) Top Scottish Theatre Picks for November

As the nights are fair drawing in, and you get dragged into pantomime mode, here are five theatrical nights out we would suggest might be worth getting out into the cold for. We’ve got a Springsteen inspired MAGA moment, a shake up of Shakespeare, immersion in the studio at the Citz, a radical show for neurodivergent teenagers, a nostalgic night of revelations and as the ghoulies give up Hallowe’en for another year, the ghosties are alive and well in a High Rise flat in Glasgow. So, in no particular order…

Andy Jordan Productions

Eastwood Park Theatre & Theatre Royal Dumfries

9th & 14th November

Meet Jimmy, an ex-Ford factory worker, anti-hero of the ‘Rust Belt’ made famous by Bruce Springsteen. A ‘Nam veteran, this explains the love affair between him and the MAGA cause, before reality kicks in with disillusionment as he seeks to reconcile with those who shunned his views and could not understand his motivation. This production received massively favourable reviews whilst at Edinburgh Fringe and in London.

Oran Mor

10th – 15th November

This might feel present like a typical last person standing in a high-rise demolition story, however Kevin P. Gilday has an effective poetic touch which works very well theatrically – here he has a social worker trying to be the bridge across the disaster but which unearths the ghosties in his past which remind Liam, who is refusing to leave his flat, of why he wants to stay.
