Message from the Editor
OK, well that was a year. It’s mince pie time again and this trip around the sun has me no closer to knowing if I actually like the things. Nice idea for a feature, that: Mince Pies: Are They Any Good? That’s why I’m the editor, ideas like that.
Anyways, it’s been a strange old year in the world of Scotland’s arts & culture. I’m crossing every finger and toe I have [all there, no extras] that by early spring we will see the Scottish Government and Creative Scotland finally demonstrate clear, unequivocal support for the artists and arts organisations that create and stitch the threads that connect us and furnish a life worth living on this lump of damp and mossy rock. We’ve all been left to the wind for far too long now and the fabric is looking sadly tattered. Artists have and will keep making, as their making compels them. They need help, though, to thrive.
Thanks to everyone who has in any way supported the mag in the last year: readers, writers, editors, designers & illustrators, advertisers, friends, family, anyone who has bought a piece of merch or recommended us to a friend – everything you do is appreciated and I know that there could be no magazine without you. I also know what we do here is valuable and we should be proud of this wee creative nook we build and re-build together, every month, over and over.
Here’s to a less complicated, thriving 2025.
