SHEARS new single ‘Arcade Machine’, Scottish single of the summer?

Is it just us, or has no one claimed the mantle of sure-fire summer anthem yet? We’re still early in the season, sure, but by now there’s usually a notable track warming up to soundtrack the longer nights and endless scrolls. If nothing steps up, let’s throw our weight behind ‘Arcade Machine’ by SHEARS. At the very least, it deserves to be the song of the Scottish summer.

The verses pulse with breathless urgency, the vocals glide with a soft shimmer, and just when you think you’ve settled in, the chorus makes you float. Like all great pop, it hides something darker beneath its gleaming surface – frustration, maybe even disillusionment – but never lets it dull the shine.

SHEARS has never been one to play the game, and she doesn’t have to. Her talent means she’s already in control of where she’s heading. She has long been a producer and performer worth your time. With ‘Arcade Machine’, and an album on the horizon, it feels like SHEARS is about to be everywhere, and rightly so. ‘Arcade Machine’ is out now.
