Glasgow’s Southside Fringe invites you to Get Involved!

Southside Fringe Guest Post

Hello 2022. We’re loving seeing the physical cultural scene come alive again in Scotland and particularly on the Southside. We, as a social enterprise are very grateful to still be here. With a programme of events under our belt in 2021, despite the pandemic, were kept busy.

You can watch more about that here. We’ve been busy in the background over winter, looking at what we could do in our planning stages whilst restrictions were ongoing into early 2022. Our focus is very much on recovery, building our year round platforms and income and making sure we’re still here for our 10th anniversary next year!

What will Southside Fringe 2022 be like?

With more than ever to shout from the rooftops about on the Southside, whilst we won’t be organising a full programme and parade this year, we still plan to fill the Southside with lots to do, from the Clydeside to the Cart.

We’re inviting event registrations for this year’s slightly shorter festival period 14th-22nd May and the rest of this blog covers all the ways you can get involved.

We are working with Everything Must Go again to present the work of early career artists around windows of businesses and venues in the Southside.

We’ll be announcing dedicated programmes in our partner venues and we’re working with a number of collaborators to bring the Southside alive with markets on our traditional launch weekend of 14th & 15th of May and we’ll be closing the festival with our own makers markets in collaboration with Art Space G41on the 21st & 22nd of May

Can We Get Involved with the Southside Fringe?

There are a number of ways you can get involved

Venues & Events | Everything Must Go | Stall Holders | Advertise | Work With Us | Volunteer

SSF Venues & Events

We are focusing on rebuilding and recovery this year. The traditional festival has grown and it’s beyond the work of just our volunteers now, for us to get lots of venues on board and have a full programme we would have to increase our annual registration prices to cover expenses and team time.

So in 2022 as a ONE OFF RECOVERY OFFER we are waiving our venue registration process and fee. We’ve designed this to be more autonomous and venue led this year and all forms must come from or with the permission of the venue manager.

Event organisers, if you would like to put something in our programme, please chat to your venue of choice and organise from there and submit your forms to us no later than Friday 8th April.

More event information and rates can be found here and you can register here

Everything Must Go

Working with Georgia Sparkes and Grace Higgins for the second year running, we are calling out for 7 very special artists to exhibit work in the windows of businesses across the Southside. With an emphasis on providing a platform for early career artists, Everything Must Go aims to maximise exposure and connect artists to their community.

Thanks to funding from the Council’s Local Area Partnership each successful artist will be awarded £300 to cover their expenses in exhibiting.

You can find out more about last year’s Everything Must Go here and to get involved this year, there’s more info here. All artists proposals to be in by no later than 21st March

SSF Stall Holders

We’re bringing the Southside alive with markets for our launch weekend, 14th & 15th of May. With collaborators Art Space G41, Phillies of Shawlands and Rags to Riches confirmed so far.

In collaboration with Art Space G41 we’re taking over Shawlands Arcade and offering stalls to makers on the weekends of 14/15 & 21/22 May. All the info you need to book with us will be released on the 14th of March, stay tuned! If you are a market operator and would like to get involved in what’s shaping up to be a brilliant weekend for Southsiders contact
