As its title suggests, this EP is fun and camp, but it also features a dry sense of humour and eccentric lyrics, exemplified by the lead single ‘Number One Wee Guy’. Danny Paylor’s deep crooning vocals are underscored by full instrumentation, which ranges from grungy post-rock to notes of full brass band. This four-track EP is a playful and catchy take on a summer album, but surprisingly substantial. It builds effectively in tempo and momentum from last year’s Bedroom Thoughts, and has left me eager to hear more from Night Caller.
