Stephen Durkan – The World Dances With You (single review)

‘The World Dances With You’ initially reminds me of Barry Can’t Swim ft. Some Deadbeat’s iconic ‘Deadbeat Gospel’ – spoken word over euphoric electronics still very much a sound of the moment.

Klepto-tronic producer Fred Again and his collaborators, not to mention his own diligent copiers, tend to over-egg the sentimental with these types of tunes but this stands in its own space, perfectly constructed – crunchy, euphoric, heartfelt, and earnest, without ever verging on the cloying. Play on repeat.
