Lucia & The Best Boys – When You Dress Up, Single Review

At school, I remember being asked the (binary) question: would you rather be a boy or a girl? At the time I thought it a stupid question with an obvious answer, and now that I’m aware that gender is a construct it’s even more inane. Still, my answer? Girl, girl, girl. Listening to this track, I’m reminded of that feeling, that pleasure in not only choosing femininity but revelling in the power of it, luxuriating in ferociousness that rises to the top of my skin as goosebumps. As Lucia belts, ‘I’ll show you what I’m made of’, writhing in red biological ooze, my answer is more, more, MORE.

‘When You Dress Up’ is out now via Communion.
