Repeat Patterns at Glasgow’s GOMA

Gallery of Modern Art, Glasgow

4th March till 15th October

Both Helen de Main and Mandy McIntosh are known for their work with the community, elevating conversations and collective consciousness through art, and Repeat Patterns is no different.

Both were allowed access to the museum’s expansive collections to inform their work, which has also been underpinned by community research in and around Glasgow.

This exhibition is another paragraph in the continuing essay of feminism: they reference the second-wave feminist argument that ‘the personal is political’ and explore the connection of women’s lives to care, work, public spaces, and more. Through print on paper, fabric, and sculpture, they have also created an additional square for the quilt of Glasgow’s social history.
